Grief Resources

Often when I am with people who are grieving, I say that I wish there was a magic wand that would just take away all of their hurt.  Obviously there is no such thing as a magic wand.  But there are things that can lessen the pain.  Some of these strategies are to register for a support group, to book an individual appointment through Morse & Son or Morgan Funeral Home, or to educate yourself about the grief journey.

The following is a list of local resources and materials dealing with grief.  Please feel free to phone Marny Atkinson (Continuing & Community Care) at Morse & Son and Morgan Funeral Home- 905 356 3550 or email at marny@morganfuneral.com.

At Morse & Son and Morgan Funeral Home

we are proud to be partners and members of:

Bereavement Resource Council of Niagara (BRC)

www.brcniagara@cogeco.ca or email:brcniagara@cogeco.ca

The Bereavement Resource Council of Niagara co-ordinates services in the Niagara Peninsula for the support and guidance of those dealing with the pain of grief and loss. Anyone who is grieving and needs help can call this number 905 680 6400 and Emily the coordinator will listen and guide that person into an appropriate group.  Many other services are also provided, thanks to the generous support of their patrons and individuals who believe in what they are doing.

Bereavement Ontario Network (BON)

www.BereavementOntarioNetwork.ca or email:info@BereavementOntarioNetwork.ca

The Bereavement Ontario network is a diverse group of organizations and individuals throughout Ontario who come into touch with grief, bereavement and mourning.  For some this happens through vocations while for others it is through volunteer work. They need, and are prepared to offer, support and develop interconnections.  The BON has a province-wide directory, which allows member to offer support that helps the dying and bereaved. 519 284 2230

Dying is one of the few events in life that's certain to occur. Should we spend more time preparing for a two week vacation than we do our last days on Earth?
