SIMS KAREN RUTH passed away on Monday, April 23, 2012 at Niagara Hospice, at the age of 88, after a courageous battle with cancer. Ruth was an Executive Secretary for Bright’s Wines in Niagara Falls for many years until her retirement. She is predeceased by her husband, Roy Sims, parents, brother, Herbie Warner, and sisters Ella Chase (Warner) and Joy Pettibone (Warner). Ruth is survived by her loving sisters, Edna Pettibone (Warner), and Beulah Carlson (Warner). Also surviving, are her goddaughter, Cindy Warner and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly, as well as, many close friends whose lives were made so much richer for having known her. Special thanks to her friend and caregiver, Margaret Broderick for her constant care and support throughout her illness, as well as, Margaret's little dog “Ollie” who has been a loving, faithful companion to Ruth. Also, not to be forgotten is the little cockatiel , Baby, who welcomed her with cheerful singing every morning.
Cremation has already taken place. A memorial service for close family and friends will be held at Morse & Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main St. at a later date (time and date will be announced). Interment to follow at Fairview cemetery. At Ruth's request donations may be made to either the Canadian Cancer Society or Hospice Niagara.
