Life Story for Melville Wesley "Mel" Dove

DOVE Melville W. (Mel) –
Mel passed in the early morning of May 12 in Niagara Falls at the age of 71 after a brief illness. Mel lived in Fenwick, Ontario for 61 years and touched so many lives as an educator for 33 years at Thorold Secondary School. After retirement in 1999, he filled his life by volunteering for various community organizations, including the Fenwick Lions Club, Phoenix Lodge Branch 535, Survivours of Stroke Niagara, Fenwick United Church, Committee of Adjustments for Pelham and Niagara Falls, and most recently Stamford Volunteer Fireman’s Association. Mel was also an avid skier and actively involved with his ski family at the Buffalo Ski Club. His most passionate pursuit, however, was his photography, and many Pelham students will remember him as the man on the other side of the camera for their school and sports team photos. He is survived by his wife Connie (nee McQueen), his children Brandon (Angela), Heather (Ian) Power, Ryan, and Rachele, and grandchildren Ayla and Silas. Mel is also survived by, his father in law Jack McQueen. Family will receive friends at MORSE AND SON, 5917 Main St, Niagara Falls, ON, on Tuesday May 16th from 6-9pm. A funeral service will be held at Morse and Sons’ chapel on Wednesday May 17th at 11 am with Rev. Dr. Garry van Bruchem officiating. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. On the wings of a dove, may he rest in peace. Amen. In Mel’s honour donations can be made to Hotel Dieu Shaver Hospital Stroke Unit.
