Life Story for Barbara Jean Hickey (Hearn)

HICKEY, Barbara Jean (nee Hearn) – After a brief illness, with her sister Beverly by her side, Barbara passed away at the GNGH on August 10, 2017 at 80 years of age. Predeceased by her husband David (2013), mother and father Beatrice and Stanley Hearn. Loved dearly by Beverly and Brian Whitworth and family of Calgary, AB; Remembered by sister Betty Jolley (Harry) and family; Greatly missed by Jim and Jean Culp (cousins), Francis Leeder (aunt), Trisha and Wayne Degaust and family (cousins), Peter and Dena Leeder and family (cousins), Helen (Bill) Bartram (BFF), Pat, Nancy and Sandra (friends), her church community of Stamford Presbyterian, her Hamilton family and those who knew her both professionally and personally. Barbara was the Executive Director of Big Brothers of Metro Toronto for 30 plus years and received the Order of Canada and Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in recognition of her outstanding dedication and commitment to boys in need in the Metro Toronto area. Cremation has taken place. A service in celebration of her life will take place on Saturday August 19th, 11:30 a.m. at Stamford Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to Big Brothers of Metro Toronto or to the Stamford Presbyterian Annual Pumpkin Fest Event.
