McINNES, Diane (Hiles) – It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that our family announces the passing of our beloved mom, grandma, nanny, great grandma and friend to many. On Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Salvation Army Eventide Home, surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 85, Diane was embraced by loving arms as she joined her husband Gord McInnes; daughter Caroline Fast and grandson Eric Lim. She will be loved always and deeply missed by her daughters; Barbara Makins (Alan), Susan Stangret (Ed), Janet Morettie and Mary Lim (Tae); by her grandchildren; Bill Gascoigne (Cherri), John Morettie (Jessica), Charlie Morettie (Kris), Darryl Stangret (Carley), Scott Stangret (Vanessa), Sarah Makins (Ben), Lisa Stangret, Breanne Lim & Josh Lim; and by her great grandchildren, nephew, nieces, sisters-in-law and friends of 50 years Jane and John Rabe.
Diane’s final breath was taken at Eventide, site of the old GNGH Hospital, where her nursing career began. Heartfelt thanks for the loving care from the staff of Eventide Home. Special thank you to Dr. McGarry and Dr. Manser. Grace and Helena, you were our rock and our refuge through all of mom’s difficult final months.
The family will receive friends at MORSE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 5917 Main St., Niagara Falls on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. A service to celebrate the life of Diane will be held at the funeral home on Monday, September 10, 2018 at 1 p.m. Burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you honour Diane’s memory by donating to your favorite charity.
