Condolence: It is with great sadness that I've just read this evening the news of my old old friend's passing. Was in a bar this evening where Jim and me would go, over here in Scotland, and had this urge to google him and was shocked with what I found. Although we hadn't spoke for many years I still have fond memories of the time we had as boys, then adults we also worked together. Condolences to Ruth (whom I met way back in Sackville) and to all Jim's family I haven't met. Rest in Peace old friend. John G.

Condolence: Dear Ruth, I was very saddened by this news, but grateful Jim and I had a good chat a couple of months ago. We were so fortunate to have his guidance and expertise during the Laura Secord Bicentennial Walk - couldn't have done it without him. And we loved having you both join us ever since. You have been such a trooper, Ruth. Our hearts go out to you. Caroline and Roy

Condolence: I enjoyed many runs, conversations and marathon events with Jim. Whenever I came across anything to do with Scotland I emailed it to him. Jim’s consecutive running streak of 23 plus years was truly amazing. Jim & Ruth were fixtures at running events all over western New York & southern Ontario shouting out encouragement & directing runners. I’ll miss him.

Condolence: Passed away before his time, but many fond memories. A true "people " person, always engaging, welcoming and friendly. Always had a interesting story to tell, and with a sense of humor. Very considerate of others, and truly devoted to Ruth. Had courage to try new things and meet new people. He introduced us to the people at Track Niagara, which was much more than a running club. It became a social institution in its own right. Will never forget the streak- At least 12 years running every day. Remember how we relied on him to get us to the start of the 100th running of the Boston Marathon. A true ambassador for the city of Niagara Falls, spearheading the most popular yearly event for the city for many years. Takes dedication ,intelligence and intuition to pull off an affair like that. A remarkable human being, whom I truly admire.
