Life Story for
Stanislavs "Stan" Timsans
TIMSANS, Stan - We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Stan on March 1, 2017, at the age of 91. Stan was born and raised on a family farm in Pilskalne, Latvia. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 59 years, Ausma, his daughter Inese Hill, his son Peter and his daughter-in-law Ilze Lacgalve, and his grandchildren, Laura and Matthew Hill. Stan was predeceased by his brothers Peteris, Ksavers, and Antons. He is also survived by a niece and nephews in Latvia.
Stan was a refugee after the Second World War and made his way to Canada in 1951. In what is truly rare these days, he worked over forty years for one company in Niagara Falls (Greif Containers Inc.), having started as a bookkeeper and retiring from the firm as its President.
His main focus in life was his family and he was an active supporter of the many academic, cultural and sports pursuits of his children as they were growing up. After he retired, being an attentive and loving grandfather, watching Blue Jays games, going to the horse races, managing a hobby portfolio of investments and consuming a heavy dose of political news became his more passionate pursuits, as well as enjoying the peace and serenity of being able to live in his home until the date of his death.
He was a kind and orderly gentleman, who would seldom be heard raising his voice or speaking ill of others. He lived a very long and comprehensive life and he will sadly be missed, but never forgotten.
Stan is at Morse & Son Funeral Home, 5917 Main Street, where his family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Church on Thursday morning, March 9th at 11 o’clock. Interment with Rite of Committal to follow at Lundy’s Lane Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.morseandson.com.
